Publishing path

From draft to published listing

A complete listing looks more professional and is easier for customers to understand. You can edit your listing anytime.

Open your account

Log in, open your Helpy account dashboard, and choose the option to add or manage a listing. If your listing was prepared for you, review the draft first.

Fill the required sections

Add business details, category, location, service radius, description, contact information, photos, and map information.

Preview like a customer

Check the title, first photo, short summary, phone number, website, service area, and map before publishing.

Publish the listing

Use your available free listing first if it is available. Credits are better saved for renewals, boosts, and visibility upgrades.

Wait for review if needed

Some changes may require review before they appear publicly. Keep your information accurate and avoid spammy text.

Improve after publishing

Add better photos, refine your description, and update service details whenever your business changes.

Listing sections

What to fill in each section

Each section has a job: helping the customer quickly understand who you are, what you do, where you work, and how to contact you.

🏷️Title & short summary

Use a clear title with your business name and main service. The short summary should be one simple sentence that explains what you do and where you work.

  • Good: “Licensed electrician serving London and nearby areas.”
  • Avoid keyword stuffing or long titles that look like ads.
  • Keep the summary readable on mobile cards.

🧰Category & services

Choose the most accurate service category. If your business does many things, start with the strongest core service and explain additional services in the description.

  • Use one primary category when possible.
  • Select a nested category if it better matches your work.
  • Do not choose unrelated categories just to get more views.

📝Full description

Write for a real customer. Explain what problems you solve, what areas you serve, what makes your business trustworthy, and what the customer should do next.

  • Mention residential, commercial, emergency, repair, installation, or maintenance work if relevant.
  • Add license, insurance, years in business, or warranty details if applicable.
  • Use short paragraphs instead of one large block of text.

☎️Contact details

Make it easy to contact you. Add the phone number, website, and business email you actually monitor. A customer should not have to search for the next step.

  • Check every digit in the phone number.
  • Use a working website or leave it empty.
  • Add social links only if they are active and professional.

Service radius controls where your listing can appear.

The radius is not just a decoration. It tells Helpy how far from your business location you are willing to serve customers. A realistic radius brings better leads. A radius that is too wide can create irrelevant requests and weak customer expectations.

5–15 km Best for very local work, dense cities, small jobs, and businesses that do not travel far.
25–50 km A practical starting point for many contractors and home-service businesses.
75–100 km Use only if you really serve a wider area, larger jobs, rural areas, or specialized services.
Check map Your radius depends on the listing location. Make sure the postal cod prefix (3 first digits) is correct before publishing.

Photos

Use photos that build trust

Photos are often the first thing customers notice. Real, sharp, relevant images are better than stock photos or graphics with too much text.

Main photo Use your strongest image first. It becomes the thumbnail customers see in listing cards.
Recommended size Use clear square images around 800×800 px or larger. Avoid white borders and tiny subjects.
What to upload Finished projects, before/after work, team, van, tools, shop, or real job-site examples.
What to avoid Blurry screenshots, stretched logos, heavy text, unrelated stock images, and duplicate photos.
Logo If you add a logo, keep it clean and centered. Do not use a low-resolution image.
Mobile view Check that the important part of the image is visible on a phone, not only on desktop.

Do this

  • Write naturally and professionally.
  • Show real work and real service areas.
  • Keep your contact details updated.
  • Use the most accurate category and location.

Avoid this

  • Choosing every possible service category.
  • Using an unrealistic service radius.
  • Uploading blurry or unrelated photos.
  • Publishing before checking the map and phone number.

Questions

Common first-listing questions

Can I edit my listing after publishing?

Yes. You can update your description, photos, contact details, service radius, and other business information when something changes.

Should I use the biggest possible radius?

No. Use the area you actually serve. A realistic radius improves customer expectations and makes your listing feel more trustworthy.

What should be my first photo?

Choose the clearest image that represents your work. For most contractors, a finished project photo is better than a logo or stock image.

Why does the map matter?

The map and location help customers understand whether your business is local to them. A wrong location can reduce trust and create bad matches.
